Waiting…2

So yesterday we talked about waiting, waiting for so many things. WaitingWaiting for Crystal to get better, waiting for God to let us loose with this vision He has given us for Mexico, waiting for Him to provide the needs we have like full monthly support and the extended funding to see this vision come to fruition (that word makes me sound smart). I think we both can agree that waiting just down right STINKS! Am I right or what!? You don’t like to wait either. How would you like the fact that for your entire life you’ve had a goal. You’ve worked hard to get your life to the place where you can achieve that goal. Went to college with that goal in mind. Married a person who was at least intrigued with that goal you had and fell more in love with you because you were so passionate about what you had on your heart. You worked, you planned, you strived! And yet here you are still waiting to get there. Still waiting to see God UNLEASH you to accomplish that goal.

So what else can we do. We talked about prayer yesterday. Today we can plan. Plan for what, how, and why?

  1. You can research. What are other people doing in the same field you want to be in. In our case reaching people. What are other missionaries doing in Latin American fields to reach people? How are they being effective? What are they doing right? What are they doing that might not be so right? What are they doing that could directly work in Zacatecas (Because not everything will)
  2. We can put together a strategy. This has to be done while praying and through prayer, but you can’t get anywhere without and desire end result. If you could what would you do, how would you do it, and what do you need to do to start. That’s what you need to do NOW!

Here’s the issue. One day God IS GOING TO UNLEASH you to accomplish this vision, but that’s not the time to start preparing. The time to start preparing is now! That’s why you are waiting. More tomorrow…

Referrals

Recently I started using sitemeter to track where people are visiting my blog from. They track everything from location, time of day, number of visits, referrals. One of the most interesting things I have found is where people visit from. All over the world! We met a lot of friends while we were in Costa Rica and they spread from the tip of South America all the way to East Africa. Amazing! But I want to thank my referrals since it’s because of them I have now over 1200 hits on my blog.

So here we go- www.gingerootphoto.com. Gina attended our college group back before we were even missionaries along with her now husband Adam who is a true crack! Gina recently started her own photography business and she is amazing to say the least, just check out some of her samples and you’ll see.

www.blogguild.net- The blog guild was started by a good friend of ours to network people in ministry. Tom is a youth pastor and a lead pastor at two different ministries! I have no idea how he does it. Handling one ministry is enough, let alone two! That guys deserves an award and a vacation too.

Keep referring people. We’ve got a story to tell and a vision to cast. The more we have following and reading, the more support we have behind us.

Waiting…

hospitalWaiting in the hospital today. Actually the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Been here many times before, not the KU center but in the waiting area. I hate waiting, I am in fact that least patient person on earth. I just despise having to wait. I am willing to wait, I know that by waiting today we have a greater chance of Crystal finding out the extent of the problem. According to the pre-op, the doctor is actually leaning more toward this being a parasite problem rather than something like Crones or whatever. We just hope they finally figure something out. The likely hood of them finding the problem today is almost none, this is going to have to be an ongoing review, but we will get there. And that brings me to the point- waiting. It seems like forever now we’ve been waiting. I can’t tell you how confident I am in the fact that God has placed a specific vision in my heart that must be done. It’s mandatory- there is a need in Zacatecas and God has appointed us to get it done. God uses waiting in life to mold us into what He has for us to ultimately be- Phil 1:6. During this waiting I know there are some specific things we can do to be prepared for what the opportunity comes. Aside from the obvious things like GET HEATHY and staying encouraged, we can pray. Man that sounds so basic- pray. What really happens when we pray. Sometimes we pray for months, years without seeing results. It’s during times like that, that we want to give up on prayer at least for that particular issue. But still we pray, but for what?

1) We pray for favor. That God will grant us favor in the areas where we need other people to come along and help us with our particular vision.

2) We pray for provision. That God will provide what we need to accomplish this vision, because all of the time if the vision is truly from God there will be NO WAY that we can provide for it ourselves.

I’ll talk more about this in the next few days. I want you all to know what is on our hearts for Mexico, for Zacatecas and for our lives.

Week in Review

Wow what a week we’re finishing up here. Just wanted to capitalize on a few high points of the week.

Monday- Worked with our mission online to discuss somethings about serving in Mexico and how we can make missions better

Tuesday- Finished our newest update video. Will post a link once I upload it online. So watch for that.

Wednesday- Did a bunch of research on investing. Now is the time to re-evaluate your investments since the markets is beginning to make it’s recovery. Subscribed the the Motley Fool Stock Advisor, some good advice, hoping to get my money back from it plus a bit.

Thursday- The busiest day by far, worked all day with my friend Mel who owns a remodeling business, he always is a monthly supporter of ours. Thursday night we got to speak with Newspring Remix group about Judgement House in Mexico. Awesome opportunities heading our way in Mexico. Cris finally got set up with her doctor in KC about her stomach problems. They were so kind to be able to work us in for Monday! That means big changes in schedule. Thank God for willing friends to watch Austin while we run up there for two nights. Also finally connected w/ my doctor about my blood sugar problems. I have an MRI scheduled for next Wednesday. Hopefully I am coming to the end of my 15 year struggle with this issue.

Friday- Worked again w/ Mel in the morning tearing off his roof, picked up my new specs- Oakleys, I’m really liking them! Friday afternoon I collapsed from a long week.

Saturday- Rested for the morning then off to prepare for our trip to KC tomorrow.

All in all a good week but from my last post a busy one. Pray for us this week as we head to KC tomorrow for Cris’ appointment on Monday. Pray for Austin and the people that are watching him while we’re away. We’re going to miss him.

Future Opps

In my last post I mentioned about us talking with a group of college students last night at Newspring Church. This group was phenomenal in their thinking. We went into this with the idea that they help us come up with ideas about reaching college students in Zacatecas. They had some awesome ideas. I did have two points that I wanted to get across to the group-

1) That they could be actively involved with missions worldwide, and more so than that they have a responsibility to do so

2) That they understand better what missions is, what it’s about, and what it’s not

I think we did well on both fronts. Some of them walked away pondering what they could do and getting excited about doing it. The coolest part was the fact that they were all grasping at the idea of seeing Judgement House results in a foreign country. For those of you who don’t know our church, Newspring Church, is like one of the premier churches in the country that works with Judgement House to reach people. Yearly thousands of people come to Christ around the globe through churches preforming this live drama. Our idea is to bring this college group and maybe a few others down to Mexico to perform a small version of JH- all in Spanish. Some of them couldn’t grasp the idea of doing something like this, and even shied away from the fact that it would be in another language. But God can bridge those gaps. Sure we’ll get some help from people we already know in Zacatecas, but the majority of the help will have to come from willing and able Norte Americanos who come to take part and see God move in another country. AWESOME! Keep tabs for more in the future. I’m not sure when this is going to take place, but it will and I can’t wait to see how God does it and how He shows Himself like no other.
