Thanks God

I was thinking about my son today. We had a lot of time to hang out today because Cris wasn’t feeling well, so we went for a couple walks, played on the floor, on the sofa with the cushions, we ate together and just had fun. I wish we could have done a bit more. I think by the end of the day he was a bit bored just hanging around the house.

But I was thinking about how awesome it is to be a daddy. My son is an amazing son, he’s got such an amazing personality and is going to be a great young man.

I was also thinking about the forgiveness of a father. One can never understand this feeling until he is in this position of having a child. It really makes you appreciate what the Bible says about how God treats His children.

Psalm 103 is an awesome Psalm that speaks of our Fathers love for us and His forgiveness that endures through all of our failures and beyond. We could never exhausted the forgiveness and love of Christ.

Read these few verses for example and they will give you a great picture:

“8The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. 9He will not always chide, nor will hekeep his anger forever.10He does not deal with usaccording to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. 11For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; 12as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. 13As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him. 14For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.” ESV

Amazing isn’t it!? This is also a great thought regarding our position in Christ. This has occupied my thoughts for sometime now, trying to understand and comprehend our position in Christ. Austin could never do anything that I would not forgive him for. NOTHING! Wrap your thoughts around that word “nothing”. Absolute, no gaps, no grey areas, black and white. That’s the love of a father. And although I get frustrated with him sometimes because he’s being a booger, and I know there will come a day that he will disappoint me (Lord knows, by the time he disappoints me, I will have disappointed him a hundred times), but he can’t do anything that would make me turn my back on him. We can’t do anything to make God turn His back on us. Once we are accepted into His family by accepting salvation, we are His loved and adored children with this acceptance, love, care, and forgiveness! We have an amazing Father who loves us with a love that is incomprehensible.

Father God, thank you for an amazing opportunity to be a father, and thank You for loving us to unconditionally and in incomprehensibly. We don’t deserve this love and forgiveness. Help us to be so forgiving with our sons and You are with Yours.

Desperate times

So since we are packing everything in our house right now and mostly because of my laziness- the picture above! Crystal hasn’t been feeling well today, she’s got some stomach bug that’s making her feel pretty nasty. So I was on my own for the boy and myself tonight, and I just didn’t want to wash dishes. So next time you need a quick grilled cheese, Reynolds wrap baby, no clean up!

Monday most everything in our house expect for furniture will disappear. Thankfully we were able to sell everything we wanted to sell to a family that will be arriving in just a few weeks, so we’ll be giving it all up and just try to clean out this house so we can pack and get ready to head back to the US. Pray that this week goes quickly! We’re ready to head home!

Last classes

Friday was it! Our last classes in Spanish. Thank God it’s over with and we are on our way to the next big step of our life in missions and Mexico.

Even though it took us 3 months longer than it should have, we learned all we needed to learn plus some, and we are ready to start ministry in Mexico among the people there and are really anxious to do so.

So we’ll spend one more week here at our home in Costa Rica saying our goodbyes to the many friends that we have made while here. Some great friends, some awesome neighbors, a doctor who we’ve made a great friendship, take one more trip downtown to get some great coffee to bring back to the states, drive past our hospital that we’ve pretty much paid for over the last year.

So there it is, check it off the list, We are done with language school!

One more week

Our time is coming to an end. We have been here for 67 weeks now, and it feels like it.

This is our final week of classes and then we’ll leave the following week after saying all the goodbyes to the people we have connected with here. We’re looking forward to saying goodbye to Crystals doctor, as strange as that may be. He’s become a friend of ours and we have enjoyed getting to know him. He’s enjoyed getting to know us because we’ve paid him a lot!

We haven’t communicated a whole lot in these last few days because our minds have really just been somewhere else. We are so ready and excited to get on to the next.

The other day we were thinking about our time here and we definitely have a lot of memories here and are going to miss the place, but we have so much to look forward too.

I can’t really say right now, but we are working on somethings right now that are really exciting and can’t wait to see if the Lord is going to work it out. It’s been awesome watching God work out some details and see His provision as I wrote about a few weeks ago.

So anyway, still not much to write about. We’re looking forward to seeing you all.

Winter fun time

It’s been hot here lately although it’s winter. Austin got out the other day and played in the water with momma. He had a lot of fun playing in the water in our front yard.

He’s becoming such a big boy. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t take his first steps before we leave here. He’s still a bit uneasy on his feet, but he’s pretty confident when he’s holding on to something. He loves pushing his highchair around the living room, as well as any other furniture he can move. It’s pretty humorous actually. Our neighbors can hear him pushing the stuff around too.

He’s pretty proud of himself when he does it, he just looks with a big smile and laughs. The other day when he pushed it all the way to the wall, I started clapping my hands and said, “Yeeaa.” He loved it! Such a funny boy. We are so blessed to have him.
