Update on Cris

We were able to get in to see the doctor again this morning. Cris had an ultrasound done to see the growth of the cyst and see what the dr had to say about it. To our surprise and thankfulness, the cyst has shrunk! Praise God for that!

The Dr wants us to wait around for at least another two weeks to see the progress of the cyst to see if it will continue to shrink or grow or what in the world it will do. He wants to put Cris on the depo shot to counter act the growth of the cyst, we are a bit against this because she was on this same shot previously and only had problems with it. We are hopeful that there are other options than this.

He did say that he is confident that Crystal has what is called polycistic ovarian syndrome which is a big name for lots of cysts growing. It’s really something that evidently she is going to deal with for quite some time in the future, but is manageable.

So for now we will press on and hopefully in a few more weeks we will have this all behind us.

Continue to pray for direction and wisdom that we will understand all that’s going on and the decisions we need to make.

Thank you all for your faithfulness alongside us through all these interesting days.

Crawlin’

CrawlinWow the next turn in the life of a 7 month old! We are crawlin’! He started the other day when we laid his keys in front of him and be batted them out of reach, he just scooted himself over and grabbed them. I don’t think he realizes yet this this is an option because he’s still pretty hesitant to do it very often. I’ve been trying to get it on camera, but haven’t been able to yet, rest assured when i do, you’ll be the first to know!

Update

Things are progressing but slowly. Crystal is still constantly in pain, and is frustrated. She was able to get a hold of the doctor today after playing phone tag for a while. She described her symptoms of continued increasing pain and other things. The doctor reassured her that she is right on track despite the issues. He said that things should start changing in a day or two. Change means for the worse and more pain. He is expecting the cyst to burst, which he assures us is the normal case and should be expected. This is going to cause Crystal a significant amount of pain, please pray for her strength as she faces that. If you can just imagine knowing that their is a small “bomb” inside your body waiting to go off! No fun.

Throughout this last week, we have been encouraged on every side. Being here at our mission has given us ample opportunity to be around people who are dedicated to seeing our get through this.

I’ve been reading through the book of Job recently, and although i would hardly align our struggles with that of Jobs, there are similarities. In the past we frequently asked the constant question “why” while going through our struggles, but in reading through Job i found a glimpse of hope. In his first conversation with his friend he was reminded “Is not your fear of God your confidence, and the integrity of your ways your hope?” With that you can pretty much progress through any circumstance. No matter what the circumstance, God is our stay and we are sure of the integrity of our ways and our confidence in God to glorify Himself.

I will do my best to keep you all well informed.

Please continue in your prayers for us. We have no greater desire than we do right now to get back to Costa Rica and continue with our studies. But first things first, Crystal must get better!

Check out our video if you have not yet.

Plans

We are rapidly learning things about life. God has so many different things in store than we had ever thought. Although we are sad to leave our home, we are grateful for this opportunity to focus on this issue. We really have no idea how long we are going to be in the states, but we are committed for as long as it takes. To many times now Crystal has had these issues with cysts, and having surgery every few months is surely not the answer.

So for the next few weeks at least, we will put Spanish and ministry on the back burner and focus on health and recovery.

Pray with us, we need your thoughts and prayers more than ever before.

Speaking of plans, from now on our plans are for today. We’ll be keeping you posted on the progress. For now pray about our safe travels to Atlanta tomorrow, and then about her initial appointment on Tuesday morning at 1050AM, and for US TO NOT FREEZE TO DEATH WHILE WE ARE THERE!

In Your Hands

In the moment that we think that all is well and we can start to make plans for this year. We’ve been talking about it for some time now. This year is going to be better than the last, the medical problems are behind us. AND THEN…yesterday we went back to the doctor to find out what the pain may be that she has been enduring for about a week now. To our surprise and fears, another cyst is growing. This one is just a bit small then the one she had previous. Although the doctor appears to be confident that the meds she is on will work, surgery seems almost imminent. Because of this and the fear of future surgery, we feel the best thing for us to do at this point is to make this a matter of our full attention and get it figured out. We have discussed this with our mission director and on Monday we will be flying to Atlanta to stay at our mission and focus completely on this issue.

This was a difficult decision to make. We are making strides in our Spanish learning, and Costa Rica is home to us right now. We love being here immersed in the Spanish culture. God has different plans for us right now.

We will be in touch with you, and be sure to keep you posted on all that transpires. Please just keep us in your prayers. With them a solution will be found, and God will bless, and through this He will be glorified.

Continue you in your prayers for us, we covet them greatly.
