Here we go again

Well we thought that tonight we would be laying our heads back in our Costa Rican bed, but God had other plans. We never left Wichita! It’s so strange how that weather in one part of the country can screw up the flights for the entire country. It was a beautiful day here in Kansas, sunny skys, very cold, but no weather. Still our plane was delayed far beyond what would have gotten us to Costa Rica today, so thankfully Delta changed our schedule to leave tomorrow. Thank God for that, what a nightmare it would have been being stuck somewhere trying to get Austin comfortable and fed.

Ah well. just another day to relax a bit before we get back to work.

Happy New Year!

Here we go again

t seems these days that we don’t like to spend to much time in one place, so today we move on again, and fly complete our 7th and 8th flights in just two weeks. That’s more flying than we have ever done in all our lives. Poor little Austin doesn’t know what to think about the whole mess, but he does very well on the plane.

This holiday season has been wonderful for us. We were able to spend time with each of our families, and many of our family members that had not yet met Austin had a chance to do so. He was handed left then right, and then back to us to change the diaper. I think he’s going to miss all the attention. He’s such a people person.

We were able to see many of our friends and family, and all that made the recent few months seem small and just fade into the background-exactly what we needed it to do. Thank God for that.

On that note, a couple have inquired about my recent post on Dec 21. It’s truly a time for us to sit back and just watch God work in amazing ways. Sometimes He allows us to proceed through dark troubling times so that we are forced to throw up our hands and cry out to Him. This is one of those situations. It’s just to big for us to deal with, and thank God He’s come through. It’s still not time yet to disclose what the situation is, but please continue to pray. We covet your prayers all the more, and realize the genuine effectiveness of them.

Tomorrow we’ll talk about the new year!

By the way, the video is just about done. I’m putting a few finishing touches on it, and it should be ready to go by the end of the week. Look back for that!

Everybody deserves a cheezer!

It amazes me how much we can learn from our children. Especially since he is only 5 months old and I’m taking notes from him?! Puzzling isn’t it? Through our recent travels (so far four flights, a few hotels, and several rental cars) we’ve run across quite a few people. There’s just something about traveling with a baby that changes things. Those of you who have flown with a baby will understand. There’s always someone who wants to talk to him or hold him or see if they can get a smile out of him. Austin is very much a people person, so this is not a bad thing at all. Not only that, but the culture in Costa Rica is very friendly towards children, so it’s not uncommon for a complete stranger to walk up to us and want to hold Austin. (He’s a great evangelistic tool!) So we’re used to this.

Anyway the other day I made the mistake of prejudging someone. This person then wanted some interaction with Austin, and Austin was glad to oblige. Austin stood next to this person, and giggled, and gave him the biggest “cheezer”. It was so funny and cute. I’m proud of my little boy. A little while later I thought to myself, “self, you should be more like your little boy because it doesn’t matter who anybody is, they all deserve a cheezer.

I believe there’s a sermon in there somewhere, so if you read this and then hear me preach about it somewhere down the road you’ll know where it came from.

Merry Christmas!

Still Coming

Throughout this year many of you have read, and listen as we have gone through trial after trial. God has really seen fit to purify us into being stronger and more durable missionaries. Just when we think the trials are over, and we are getting away from all of it we are hit with another one, and that has been the case this entire year since we moved to Costa Rica.

Through it all we have seen God care for us and provide for our needs, so much so now I don’t even think about it anymore. I just know that no matter what comes our way, He’s there and has already taken care of what’s ahead. Thank God for that.

This week we have been hit with the biggest one yet. I’m not going to say what it is just know that everybody is alright. I want to pray through this one and watch God take care of it. This one is so big I know that we have no control over it. This is going to be all God or not at all.

Pray with us, you might now know what you are praying for but God knows. I’ll let you know what it is after it’s been taken care of.

Thank you for your faithfulness.
